Humor als Medicijn

Readers Digest had lang geleden al een rubriek met deze titel.
Humor is een manier om je (zelf)beleving te kunnen overstijgen.
Met humor, grappen, bekijkt je iets weer vanaf een andere kant.
Daardoor leer je weer om je beleving vanuit nieuwe perspectieven te bekijken.

Vaak is dat het enige wat nodig is om niet langer vast te zitten in een geloof/overtuiging/probleem/ziekte.
Norman Cousins lachte zich weer gezond door in een hotelkamer – buiten het zieke(n)huis lachfilm te bekijken.

• “Gezwellige morgen allemaal” riep de oncoloog bij het binnenlopen van de kankerzaal voor de ochtendronde.
  “Dat is niet grappig”, riep iemand terug
  “Ach”, riep de oncoloog terug, “je hebt geen gevoel voor tumor”.
  De grap van deze grap is dat je voor kankerbehandeling … niet bij de oncoloog moet zijn.

Doctors PRACTICE (!!)  medicine:
Webster’s Dictionary [1996 pg. 482] defines

Practice – v
1) to do or engage infrequently; make a habit of
2) to do repeatedly so as to become proficient
3) to work at, esp. as a profession
4) to do something repeatedly so as to become proficient; drill
5) Chiefly Brit., etc. sp.

Prac’tise – n,
1) a practicing; habit, custom, etc.
2) a) repeated action to acquire proficiency
b) proficiency so acquired
3) the actual doing of something
a) the exercise of a profession
b) a business based on this.

Makes you feel good to know they practice????  ON YOU & Others like you!
Question: How good is the practice, and are they CORRECTLY Practicing?
“Correctly” is the key and I will present the argument that they are NOT CORRECT!, as displayed in the lack of successes in curing anything.

“CURE” (Webster Dictionary [p. 146]

1) cure is; a healing or being healed
2) a remedy
3) a method of medical treatment –vt.
4) Cured,

1) Cu’ring
2) to restore to health
3) to get rid of [an ailment, evil, etc.]
a] to preserve [meat], as by salting or smoking
b] to process [tobacco, leather, etc. as by drying or aging–

Doctors versus Gun owners

Doctors:

1) The number of physicians in the U.S. is 700,000.
2) Accidental deaths caused by Physicians per year are 120,000.
3) Accidental deaths per physician is 0.171.

Now think about this:

Gun owners:

1) The number of gun owners in the U.S. is 80,000,000.(Yes, that’s 80 million)
2) The number of accidental gun deaths per year, all age groups, is: 1,500.
3) The number of accidental deaths per gun owner is 000188.

So, statistically, doctors are approximately
9,000 times more dangerous than gun owners.
Remember:
“Guns don’t kill people, doctors do.”

FACT: NOT EVERYONE HAS A GUN,
BUT ALMOST EVERYONE HAS AT LEAST ONE DOCTOR.

Please alert your friends to this alarming threat.
We must ban doctors before this gets completely out of hand!
Out of concern for the public at large, I withheld the statistics on lawyers for fear the shock would cause people to panic and seek medical attention!
